Back to the Mont Blanc

Great cross-country flight with the Sparrowhawk ultralight glider from Serres – La Bâtie with a turnpoint North of the Mont Blanc.

What jac appreciated:
– the easy flying on the northward leg via Vercors, Chartreuse, Beauges, Aravis
– the great comfort of the Sparrowhawk: not tired after a more than eight hours flight
– its great agility thanks to its 11m wingspan
What jac appreciated less:
– the Parc de la Vanoise restricted area: he had to fly around and all the good thermals were inside its border
– the descending wind in the Vallée Etroite after crossing the big Maurienne valley
– the wide shadow area in the Briançonnais
– the congestus which turned to rainshower when he arrived below at the Col de l’Izoard
– the positive varios he was unable to turn into from there till Prachaval
But it was interesting 🙂

Same kind of flights done with the Swiftlight:
in June 2014
in July 2014
