Foot launch

Lets have a look at the movie

But it is not as easy as with a hangglider or a paraglider

1)   more heavy, the speed at which the lift starts to relieve the pilot’s shoulders is significantly higher; consequently, pending of the steepness of the slope, with weak or null wind, it’s worth to be built like an athlete…

2)   during the takeoff run, the pilot has no rudder control, the glider might turn into the wind: this makes taking off by cross wind hazardous.

For a safe foot launch, the pilot must be patient on takeoff areas where the wind is not steady; he might sometime have to wait for a long time untill it turns to straight head wind.
